Drop 2 Is Open. What LA28 Ticket Demand Means for Long Beach Businesses

LA28 is no longer a far-off idea. It is starting to show up in calendars, inboxes, budgets, and ticket queues.

The latest signal? Drop 2 registration for LA28 Olympic tickets is now open, with registration for both the Visa Presale and Drop 2 closing on July 22, 2026. According to LA28, Visa Presale time slot notifications will be released on July 27, with the presale taking place July 29–31. General Drop 2 time slot notifications will be released August 6–7, with the Drop 2 sales window scheduled for August 10–20.

For fans, this is another chance to get tickets. For Long Beach businesses, it is something more: a reminder that Olympic demand is building.

Long Beach will play a major role in the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The City reports that it will stage 11 Olympic sports and seven Paralympic sports, with Olympic competition in Long Beach including 161 ticketed events and 35 finals across 17 of the 19 Olympic competition days. That is a terrific concentration of activity, visitors, media, vendors, volunteers, athletes, families, and fans.

Long Beach businesses should ask themselves:

Are you paying attention to the official channels?

LA28 updates, City of Long Beach updates, ticket information, volunteer opportunities, and procurement announcements are all rolling out in stages. Business owners should be registered for relevant updates and not relying on word of mouth.

Do you understand where the activity will be?

Long Beach venues include Marine Stadium, Long Beach Arena, Alamitos Beach, and the Long Beach Convention Center area. Even businesses that are not directly next to a venue may feel the impact through hotel demand, dining patterns, transportation shifts, staffing needs, visitor questions, and extended regional attention.

Are you thinking about readiness, not just opportunity?

The Games will bring excitement, but also logistics issues. Businesses may need to think through staffing, signage, hours, inventory, accessibility, multilingual communication, transportation changes, digital visibility, and customer experience well before 2028.

Are you prepared to be found?

Visitors are searching now, well before they arrive. That means websites, Google Business Profiles, social media, menus, booking tools, maps, and basic brand messaging should be clear, current, and easy to navigate.

LA28 is a visibility moment for Long Beach and the region. The businesses that benefit most may be the ones that start preparing now by paying attention, getting organized, strengthening their customer experience, and watching for the opportunities that are beginning to emerge.

Drop 2 is open. The demand is real. It’s time for Long Beach area businesses to get in the games.
